Hola! What’s up?! Hope you all had an amazing week 🙂 This week was so much warmer! Seriously, I didn’t even have to wear a winter jacket! I upgraded to only wearing three thin jackets 🙂 But it was great and felt wonderful to have a bit of spring weather. This week we had some neat experiences. One was with our returning member, J. We went again to that Addiction Recovery Program and it was so cool. She was really able to open up and share a lot of good things. But my favourite/coolest part was when she was like, “You know, I was praying for over a half an hour and everything that I prayed about was mentioned here tonight. I take that as a sign.” Oh, and something else cool was that while we were talking to her over the phone she was like, “I read the two paragraphs you left me…” she actually ended up reading the whole section over again (which is awesome because she has never read the Book of Mormon when we have left her something- this was Joseph Smith’s testimony at the beginning) and she said she learnt so many new things. And then asked us, “So, what chapters in the Book of Mormon were translated by Joseph Smith?”. I kinda laughed and said, “It’s the whole thing” and she was like, “Whoa! Are you for real?!” Me, “Yep, for real.” J, “No… whoa… I’m going to have to read the whole thing then!” That was cool.

Also, I’m not sure if you remember the young single Mom we were once teaching, S. Well, we were able to go back there and she was there and let us in. It was a great lesson. She’s been going through a lot still and when we asked her how her prayers were going she responded that she had only prayed during the really hard times she had. And then she kind of looked at us and was like, “That’s not very good is it?”. We told her about how God is our Heavenly Father who loves us and knows us and wants to hear from us. We asked her if she would want her daughter to talk to her everyday and what she would want her daughter to tell her. After we explained it a bit more she looked at us and was like “Wow. Okay, yeah, I feel bad”. This week she said she wanted to work on that, talking to her Heavenly Father everyday. That was really neat to see her understand it more and see the importance of why we pray. It kinda makes me think about all these simple things I have done all my life and really understand it more and have it become more personal to me too. I really love that.

Okay, one last cool thing. On Sunday (I guess that’s only yesterday but it feels like a week ago already haha) I met Brother K Johnson! And guess what?!?! Ready Grandpa Wardrop 😀 (Well, I guess you probably already know because of the name…. ah well) He is from Calgary but lived in Salmon Arm for awhile and were good friends with Grandma and Grandpa Wardrop! That was sooooo cool! He talked about how he knew they ran the retirement building and all. It was just so neat! He was such a nice and friendly person. I was just so happy that he knew Grandpa 🙂 His daughter, C J, and their family live here in our ward. The J’s are super cool! So the picture is me with Brother Johnson and his grandkids (R, T and E). Isn’t it such a small world? How great is that!

Well, we are off and ready to go! We are excited tonight we are going to visit a returning member and she is going to show us one of her talents (had a lesson on that before)… cooking! So yeah know, pretty good deal. Maybe we should do a lesson on that more often… just kidding, just kidding. Okay, got to go for reals. Love you all and hope you have an amazing and super exciting (in all good ways) week! May the Lord be with you (see what I did there)! Oh and P.S. GO CANADA!!!! M updated us on the hockey game haha! We got our ins 🙂 Don’t worry though, not distracted, makes good conversation starters yeah know. I love you and hope the missionary work is going great with you guys too! By small and simple things are great things brought to pass! Don’t be discouraged or afraid, missionary work is done in small and simple ways, our example, service and just sharing the joy 😀 Love you!

Love,
Sister Godfrey 🙂

Hola!!! This week has been so good! Seriously, miracles are just everywhere! We have found SO many more people to teach! It seems that they have just come to us! Let me just tell you a bunch of them since I am just so delighted and excited about it all.

First this week, we are going to teach this one less active we have just recently started working with and her friend was there. We were like, “Hey! Do you want to join us?” And so he did! And they are going to start reading the Book of Mormon together! Then one of my favourite people I have met. One day, a few transfers ago, we jumped on the bus and there was this man with his son in his stroller. And so I thought, “teach families!” and we started talking to them! He was like, “How do you share your message?” Anyways, we ended up staying on the bus one stop extra so we could exchange information. We set up an appointment but it didn’t go through. I guess we lost track of him. But the other week we were on the bus and this guy comes up to us and sits down and was like, “Hey! You didn’t call me!” haha… opps. Anyways, we were thrilled to see him again and we set up a time to meet. This time it worked out and he is so cool! His name is S and he was born in France but his parents are from the Congo.

Then this Saturday we had a ward party! We decided to send out a mass text to everyone in our phone. We had a lot of people there (well, comparitively to the last ward party we had) with our returning members there and those that we are currently teaching the lessons to! One of our investigators (she’s so cool too! She is from Kenya and has been here for just over a year studying nursing. I’m trying to learn a bit of African (forgot the name of the language…) from her and her Mom who knows no english LOVES us and wants to make us food!), R (who is progressing so much!) brought her sister, F and their friend, R2. After the ward activity we went to a baptism in the Young Single Adults branch. At the end during the supper thing they had, F and I were talking and she told me, “You know, the real reason I came tonight is because I want to come back to Jesus Christ”. And R2, was like, “Yeah, I think I want to know more about this Mormon faith”. We were like Sweet! So we are seeing them this week! Just so much work going on!

And to top it off we were on our way to visit a family that we are working with, the Rs Family, we were talking to this one man who was interested and stopped to get each others information. After there was this guy behind him just waiting and then was like, “Wait, what time did you say church was at?” haha. It was cool! We have an appointment with him too this week! Love it!

It’s not always this way and you get a lot of people who aren’t interested and sometimes not always the nicest. But it makes it so worth it when you do find those who are interested in learning the gospel! It’s just been such an amazing experience this week. I can’t wait to meet with them and keep working with those we already have a relationship with as missionaries.

You know, this morning, we were listening to some great church music and cleaning the house when I just smiled and exclaimed to myself, “I’m a missionary!” And then this warmth just swept over me. How often in my life am I going to have that opportunity and honour to say that? Not forever (well, always a member missionary- thankfully!). I just love being a servant of the Lord and being able to help his children here in this area. It’s the greatest calling on earth. And there is nothing that I would rather be doing right now 🙂
Today! Our P-day activity eating pancakes! So adventurous today!

Oh! Okay, I’m talking so much this week! but one last cool quick story. A while ago (I think I told this story) but we helped this lady shovel her pathway. We invited her to church and tried to meet with her but it didn’t work out. Well, I forgot about that. But then yesterday, this lady showed up to church (to be honest, she already looked like a member) and was talking to someone. I went up to her to say hi and guess what?!?! It was her! That was super cool! We are going to see her next sunday before church. Can’t wait 🙂 It’s amazing to see the efforts you put in today bring forth fruit. And luckily for me I can see some of those miracles happening!

Well, I love you guys! A lot! Thanks for everything! I really am so grateful to my family. I love you and am happy to hear from you. Hope you have an AMAZING week!

Love,
Sister Godfrey 🙂

February 3 – The joy of service!

3 Feb
Hello family! How are you guys doing? It’s been a good week! We did a lot of service this week! Which was a lot of fun. One lady in our church has been super sick for a while. One day she called us and said she had no food and was wondering if we could go get her some groceries. We said yes! She gave us the stuff and off we went one night. The only thing is that transportation is everything and can take so long to get any where. We had about 2 hours before we had to be home. We didn’t know how it was going to work. But we didn’t have another time. So we prayed and off we went. And guess what!?!? One of our less actives that we have been working with, J, was able to come to our rescue! She picked us up and took us! It was such a miracle. We had fun getting all the stuff. I’ve never seen/known anyone to eat so many organic and healthy things in my life! And people eat a lot of sardines here… Thankfully, I haven’t had to have one yet (fingers crossed)!

Good ol' Montreal for ya! We knew it was for the snow removal but not exactly sure for what... until they started coming towards us when we were taking the pictures (we seriously almost got run over ha). But now we know they are for the sidewalks! How neat is that?!

We also taught english class this past week! It was so much fun!!! Seriously I loved it! We didn’t have a clue how to teach it but one guy usually comes and was able to help us out. It’s so cool because you end up having the United Nations in there! I love it! We had 7 there and all from different places around the world (Iran, Senegal, Cameroon, France, El Salvador, Tunisia, and other wonderful places that I can no longer remember- but its just amazing! Really, I would have to say that is most definitely my favourite thing about Montreal! So cool!)  We ended up playing a game and we all had a lot of fun! And then at the end they wanted me to teach them some Canadian terms (haha we spent about at least 5 min explaining the diffference of “washroom”, “restroom” and “bathroom”… sorry I don’t know why I’m telling you this… hope ya like it!). Anyways, I hope that we get the chance to help teach more often!
On our way - We had a dinner over at one of our awesome member family's home. I haven't gotten lost for so long (after being in an area for 8 months, I feel like I know it like the back of my hand ya know) so it was super fun, but seriously!

Okay, also we had a cool experience with J! To be honest, we really didn’t know what to do to help her progress in the gospel. She loves having us over! And is willing to bend over backwards to help us out whenever she can (she’s called us a couple nights and been like “Where are you at? Do you need a ride anywhere?”! Sooooooo kind!), and she makes awesome Lebanese food! But there were some things where we didn’t know what to do because we felt like we tried so many things. And then all of a sudden, some of her circumstances changed, and she just told us that she couldn’t do “this one” alone. There has been such a change in her! And after the night we were over for a FHE with her and her son she texted us and was like “Hey! What should I read in the Book of Mormon?”. We told her to start from the beginning. She called us the next night and wanted to read some together over the phone. We started right from the beginning and she was like “Whoa. This is so important.” It was soooo cool! I love her! Haha and her son J is super fun too! They gave us a ride home and I guess Sister G forgot to say good-bye to J. They started pulling away and we went in and then a second later J pulled back up and was like “Hey Sisters! J keeps saying that Sister G didn’t say goodbye to him!” It was really funny and cute!
A FHE we did with J and her son J. Can you guess what it is??! Armour of God!!! And we had to be super creative :)

Things are going good! I am so happy to be able to help people. It seriously makes everything so much better and you feel so much happier. I love it and have a strong testimony of service being able to make all the differences! I invite and challenge you this week that if you catch yourself feeling a little bit down, to think of something that you can do for someone else and then do it! I promise you you will feel a difference and feel the joy that comes from serving! “And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”– Mosiah 2:17.

Well, we are off! Today is a pretty special day and we are super exicted! IT’S M’S BIRTHDAY!!!!  She is awesome and we can’t wait to spend a little bit of time with her on her special day! I wish I could tell you more stories about this week! There are so many. But I do have to quickly say that we were off to go see a member and M drove us. She was just going to drop us off but we invited her and when she found out that she knew the person she said yes! We went in and it was so inspired that we go there. That person needed us! We were there in the time that she needed us and I have to say that without M we wouldn’t have been able to help her as much as we could of. It was great! Members are so important!

Love you all and happy to hear from you! Hope you have a wonderful week. I LOVE YOU!!!! Keep up being amazing and let me know about the miracles that happen this week! Missionary stories??? Yes please!

Love you!

Love,
Sister Godfrey 🙂
