January 27 – Isaiah 60:19-20

28 Jan
Hellooo! Well, to be honest, I can’t actually remember what happened this week… a lot! Oh I know! Okay, so we kinda had a pretty cool experience happen this past Wednesday. We went to the church’s service of ‘Addiction Recovery Program’. At first I thought it was a bit weird and could see that the person we went with was kinda feeling the same. So I was trying hard to participate (it was funny, the lady we went with was like, “You know, I’m just going to tell them that you have the addiction” hahah. I was like, “Sweet! Sign me up!” So I was thinking… “Yeah I love chocolate, I could probably work on that.”) and trying to make it the best. Then about half way in another person showed up, a friend of a member. She sat through most of it and then almost right near the end she was like, “Can I say something? Or do I have to be baptized first?” (someone go fill up the font! just kidding…) And then she just opend up. She has had such a hard life and is really struggling. I can see how much the gospel will help her! Jesus Christ really is the light of the world- there is so much peace and love that He can give us if we turn to him. But after she opened up everyone started adding things in and it just completely transformed the program (in a good way). It was great! It was honestly such an amazing thing to go to and be a part of. And because of that we finally are making progress with the person we brought to it. We are excited!

And the lady, who was the friend of the member, she is just so sweet. Her name is Poetry. And yes, she is very poetic and loves poetry! And she knows John Keats!!! Kinda exciting! Afterwards, we had like two seconds (because we were getting a ride back) and I knew that she needed us. And miraculously as soon as I asked if she would like to meet with us she was like, “Yeah! I would love to! I think that would be really good”. Yeah! It was great. We haven’t met with her in person since but we’ve talked to her over the phone a few times and have a lesson this Tuesday. So we are excited!

M!!! (Haha I probably know she is going to read this too…. love you!) I am so happy and proud of her. Seriously, I’m not sure if I mentioned it but she has been called to be a WARD MISSIONARY!!!! 😀 And she is awesome! She came out with us quite a bit last week! She has been able to help many. She helps others become their best. I love that!

And one last amazing thing. Brother J received the Aaronic Priesthood this past Sunday! I am so happy and proud of him. Our recent converts are doing so well. He is just so humble and eager to learn more of the gospel. He feasts upon the words of Christ and always surprises us at the next lesson by reciting a scripture that we shared with him last time! Yeah!

Okay, got to go. Love you all so much. Thank you for your emails and love. Its so good to hear you are all happy and doing well! I love my family and am so grateful for the blessing that we can live together forever! Love you! And have a amazing week!

My family! I love you guys! How was your week? Well, you’ve actually already told me but I am just grateful for you all! This has been a good week! It was so warm too but now it’s getting cold again. Let me tell you of some miracles!

The 2 girls in the L family – S1 and S2.

We have been working with the L family (the ones with the two girls who are the reason we were able to come back and teach them). For a few weeks we have been helping them work on their goal to read The Book of Mormon together as a family each day. But each time we came back they hadn’t been reading it! And so we would teach another lesson and leave them with the commitment to read The Book of Mormon. We have been praying for them so much! Then this past week when we went the two girls were super excited to see us (they usually are but this time even more so- I knew something was up). And before we even started with the prayer they burst out, “We read The Book of Mormon!!!” They were so excited and we couldn’t contain our excitement! It was amazing! I’m just so happy and excited for them! And the member we brought with us just immediately connected with Sister L! I love this gospel! It’s a gospel of progress and learning.

Well I’m going to keep it shorter so I can try and send some pictures home. I love you guys and hope you have a great week! LOVE YOU!

January 13 – Que Paso?!

14 Jan

Que paso?! Well, I can tell you whats up here in Montreal! It was a pretty great week! My new companion is AWESOME! Seriously, I absolutely love her! Her name is… Sister G!!! And guess what else?!?! She speaks SPANISH! She was born in California and lived there for 14 years and then moved with her family to Idaho Falls, Idaho! I know it has only been one week (well, not even eh) but I have learnt SOOOOO much from her! She has the BEST insights into things and just sees things exactly as they are and right from the investigators eyes! She was born to be a missionary! So I don’t really know who is training who haha. I love her!

Brother J officially became a member of the Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-Day Saints this weekend!!!! It was a great baptism! We even had some of our other investigators and less actives there. Brother J is pretty amazing (I think I have to learn some other adjectives… sorry about that). He is just so humble and yet so funny! An incredible man! And I cannot wait to until he receives the priesthood and goes to the temple!!!

Brother J's baptism this Saturday!!!! It was awesome and he is just incredible! The family is the J family who was a big part of his preparation (their parents/grandparents were a senior missionary couple here and found Brother J- became friends talking to him in the apartment elevator!) and then this family was here when Elder and Sister J finished their mission. We taught a lot at their house.

You know it was kind of cool at church the other day. I really have come to know these members a lot (hopefully they feel the same). On Sunday it was kind of fun, just being able to call out their names and ask them how they were doing and how everything was going. I love them! I am excited for that. Anyways, not much more time. Love you guys and hope you have a FANTASTIC week! Keep being amazing! I love you and so grateful for your examples and love for the Lord. Keep it up! And let me in on the cool missionary stories you are having (even if you dont think they are that cool, I am sure they are! Love you!

2014 – Happy New Year’s!

14 Jan

On New Year’s Day a member did a photo shoot with the sister missionaries that live in Sister Godfrey’s apartment. The member then sent the pictures to the missionary’s families. Sister Godfrey gave permission to share some of these on her blog! (The other two sister missionaries cover the same area but attend the French ward and teach in French).

January 6, 2014 – NUNAVUT!!!!

6 Jan
Hahahah. Oh dear. Here we go….. So we got our transfer calls. Sister M is going…. to Zarahelma ward (still on the Island), Spanish speaking!!! I am seriously so excited for her. She is going to love it and thrive off of it. She just connects so well to people, especially those who speak Spanish! I know she is going to do wonders and be the faith that brings so many miracles to the people.

As for me…. I am going to NUNAVUT!!!! SPANISH SPEAKING!!!! Just kidding (I would love to go to Nunavut though… dream area. Too bad they do not even have an area there…) about going to Nunvaut. But about the Spanish….! Hahaha. This is too much fun haha. Okay, here we go for reals. I have been called to…. Montreal West! Haha. I am staying. Yep. And I will be receiving a new missionary! I am pretty excited to train again. Seriously, I am happy about that and pray that I will be able to help her grow and become the daughter of God that Heavenly Father wants her to become. It will be a fun transfer!

As for staying in this area for what will now become my 6th transfer (and probably 7th) is a bit of a surprise. Haha I was telling everyone good-bye and taking photos and getting their emails. But it seems that God has something different in mind. It was kind of funny, when the Elders called to tell us our transfer calls I thought they were joking ha, but at the same time I knew it was true. There is so much to do and so many good things to come in this area. It will be really good to be a part of. I am excited and ready to go! After all, I feel like I know this area like the back of my hand. I know that God has something for me to do here and I need to fulfill that. I will go wherever the Lord wants me to go. After all, ¨In the sight of the Lord, it is not so much what we have done or where we have been but much more where we are willing to go¨. — Elder Edward Dube.

Oh oh, I don’t have much time left. But I really want to tell you quickly about Brother J. First off, he is AWESOME! I have never known someone so prepared and so golden. He is just ready to be baptized. This past Sunday was fast and testimony meeting and all of the sudden we notice Brother J get up to the stand to bare his testimony! He’s not even baptized yet! And he gets up and starts bearing testimony of his conversion, of the truthfulness of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ, of the atonement and how merciful the Lord is. He practically bore his testimony and covered all the baptismal questions! He is so humble and has such a powerful testimony of the gospel and incredible faith. And he is going to be baptized this Saturday!  We are all pretty excited!

Well, I love you all and hope you are doing wonderful. Have a great week! Keep the missionary stories coming! This gospel is awesome and I love our Heavenly Father and Saviour. They make me happy 🙂 I love being a missionary and being able to serve my God.

LOVE YOU!

Love,
Sister Godfrey
