October 28 – Almost November!

29 Oct
Hey! That is so exciting about all of your missionary experiences! Thanks for sending them! I love how the Sisters used Elder Ballard’s talk! And I am grateful that you accepted the challenge to have someone in your home for the missionaries to teach before Christmas. It may seem crazy and maybe even out of reach. But I promise you it is not. There are so many people that you know. Heavenly Father will use you to help His children come unto Him. Don’t be afraid of the challenge. Break it down. Have a goal and plan each week to make it come to pass. I know you are great missionaries. I love you and encourage you and pray for you! You got this! Keep me up to date!

Okay, so let me tell you some cool experiences that happened this week. First, A. We had a little bit of time because one of our lessons fell through. So we went to drop by one of our investigators we once taught but haven’t been able to find a time when they are home. We went and they weren’t home. But we heard some noise from the apartment over. We were going to do another drop by but I felt that we should knock on that door first.  This lady, probably about 24, opened the door. We started talking to her and offered her service. She thought it was so kind but didn’t need any help. Then we just asked, “Well, can we share our message with you?” She was like, “Sure why not?” We went in and had a lesson with her. We got to know her a little more and when we testified of where we lived before earth and our purpose on earth the Spirit was strong and we know she was touched. She was so kind and really cool.
A quick update of M…. ready?!?!? We are going to the temple November 16th, 2013! Pretty amazing eh? She was picking a date and was like, “Wait, your birthday is November 16th! Lets do it then!” I told her no saying that it was a day completely for her. She then looked at me and said, “No, it will make it even more special. I am going to the temple to baptize my daughter and you are like my daughter.” I am so blessed to have been given the chance to know M and being part of her journey back to home with our Father in Heaven is amazing.
Well, there are so many stories I could keep telling you but so little time. And of course, because I have the best memory, I forgot my camera at the apartment today… more for next week!
Thank you so much for everything you do! I love you guys so much! Have a great week 🙂

October 21 – I don’t know what the Lord is telling me, but I better speak some Spanish

Hola familia! Any guesses where my companion is from???? Mexico!!! Sister Munive Chico. She is AWESOME! Seriously, first day we go to this one referral and the lady spoke better in french and spanish so Sister Munive just naturally takes on the lesson in Spanish and owned it! She is great! And a lot of fun. Its for sure going to be a great transfer!

So, bring on the Spanish! This week…. let me tell you about S. Well, first of all I can’t pronounce his name cause its french and he corrected me in one of my prayers haha. He’s cool. We have been teaching him for about 6 weeks. Apparently, I gave him a pass along card on the bus and two weeks later he decided to call us back. Pretty sure I told you that already though. But! Its been really cool because there has been a lot of progression and we are starting to teach him the plan of salvation… and he has a lot of questions. So I am excited! I think this will really touch him and be a big part of a change in him. Even though progression is happening, it’s slow. He doesn’t like commitment or organization (any organization) in general but slowly, piece by piece, he is changing. We saw a miracle this last Sunday. He is always like “Yeah, don’t expect me at church” or after going once, “Yeah, maybe in a few weeks or so I’ll see”. So I wasn’t expecting anything and in walks S to church! I was so surprised! It was awesome!
I have definitely seen miracles happen and yesterday was a reminder that with God all things are possible. I need to pray for miracles, work for miracles and expect miracles because with faith and hard work they will happen. I’m so glad that I am able to serve the Lord. I am here because he has called me but I keep going because I love him.
I've been dying to go to this street but I told myself only if that was where we needed to be. Well, 4 months later, I got lost and here ya go.... la rue GODFREY

I hope you have a great week. I love you all. Keep up doing your own missionary work. We are the instruments that God has to work with… he loves us and he loves all his children. I know this gospel is true. LOVE YOU!

P.S. Tell me about your missionary experiences

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! I hope you have a FANTASTIC thanksgiving with lots of family, food and of course thankfulness! We are going to go to M’s today for a thanksgiving meal (which btw, after our lesson about temples she was like “Great! When can I go?” haha very soon!). I am super happy to be spending it with her- she’s my family here!

Well guess what?!?! Transfers are tomorrow!!!! And…. well, Sister L got her transfer call to Guatemala City haha. She is finished (crazy eh!) and has been the best missionary ever! Seriously, I have learnt so much from her and am so grateful that I had the opportunity to be her companion. I’m going to miss her. But I know she is going to do wonders in Guatemala!
Okay, so here it is. I am going to be staying in Montreal (same area) and I will be receiving a new missionary!! Haha I am super excited! I really hope that I will be able to be the trainer that Heavenly Father wants me to be so that I can help her to become an awesome missionary. This should be a fun week.

So I think last email I told you about the whole less active focus we have as missionaries (after all, we have about 64 families/members in our focused area and only 17% are active). There’s lots of work to do! We were able to go to this one family yesterday who recently moved into the ward from England. They are awesome! They have two kids in the family, a son who’s 6 and a daughter who is 9. The wife is active and has such a strong testimony of the gospel- she’s like super mom. And the father is a convert but hasn’t been coming to church for a while. The daughter hasn’t been baptized because she is “waiting for her Dad to come back to church”. You can see how much the mom wants her family back in the church. We had a great lesson with them last night hearing about their conversion stories and the blessings they love about the gospel. And we asked them if we could come and teach them the missionary lessons together as a family. They said yes and we know this is going to be the start of something wonderful for their family.
So pretty along the river in LaSalle. It's not my area but was a day when I was on splits (from the car window).

I hope you all have a great week. I love you so very much. Thank you for being such great examples to me. I don’t know where I’d be without you but I’m glad I don’t have to know. I know this gospel is true. I know that Heavenly Father loves us and knows us, he’s always there with his hands wide open, waiting for us to come to him. I love him and I’m so grateful to be able to share his love with others. Have a great week! You are amazing!

October 7 – Tengo gozo en mi alma

8 Oct
Hola! First off, I would like to offically declare my language. I asked my Mission President (I finally decided to ask haha) what language I was called to serve in. And…… SPANISH! Magnifico!

Wasn’t General Conference awesome?! It was amazing! I wrote 7 questions down (many for my investigators) and then prayed that I would be able to have them answered through the Holy Ghost and the talks. And guess what?! Every single question was answered. It was a pretty cool experience. I definitely recommend it!
This past week was filled with a lot of service! It was great! One thing that I loved about conference and have been wondering about is how I can do missionary work better and connect with people better. One of the talks talked about how you do missionary work in “natural ways”and that people will be able to feel your positive influence.
After that session we were taking the bus. We hopped on and as I was looking where I should go (I have a goal to follow what I call the 10 second rule- 10 seconds to find someone to talk to!) I noticed this lady who smiled at me. I walked over, smiled and asked her how her day was going. We ended up having a great conversation about how she came to find God and the importance of having that influence in our lives. She was off to a hockey game (go Canada :D) but was like “Give me a call!”. It was so cool to see how just being positive and happy leads to natural ways to share the gospel. Heavenly Father will truly put people in our path. I love it!
This conference was a lot about missionary work and the hastening of Salvation. I love how our mission president reminds us, “It’s not me telling you, it comes from the Prophet and Apostles and they get it from the Lord”. Heavenly Father loves us and wants to have his other children feel of his love as well. Missionary work isn’t something that needs to be hard. It simply happens as we naturally seek to help others and share with them our love. Keep up your great work! Let me know of your missionary experiences!
Thanks for your love and support. I love you. Have a fantastic week!
